Stone Figurine

The Stone Figurines are recreational items in Astroneer.

The Stone Figurines can be found scattered on the surface and throughout the caves of Desolo and Novus, and come in Jasper and Lapis varieties. They can be found as Pawns, Knights, Rooks, Bishops, Queens, or Kings.

Jasper figurines are a light brown color and are found in surface craters and in the higher caves of Desolo.

Lapis figurines are a blue color and are found in the surface craters and in the higher caves of Novus.

Uses

The Stone Figurines are used with the Figurine Platform to play games of chess. To play chess, a minimum of 32 pieces will need to be collected: 8 Pawns, 2 Knights, 2 Rooks, 2 Bishops, 1 King, and 1 Queen for each player, with collecting at least 1 additional Queen being recommendable due to the rules of pawn promotion. Since they come in two varieties, it is suggested to collect full kingdoms of each Jasper and Lapis pieces. More than enough pieces are found on both moons to collect more than a single set, but it may take quite some time to collect them.

Lapis figurines can be shredded for 0.5 scrap, while Jasper figurines can be shredded for 0.75 scrap.

Notes

• Holographic Figurines can be used as an alternative to the Stone Figurines, which could make it easier to obtain enough pieces to play a full game of chess, although the complete appearance may be confusing.
• Stone Figurines are one of the many curiosities that can be detected by Usagi. If attempting to gather both kingdoms, it is ideal to feed her a seed [preferably a Mutant Hissbine seed] before going scavenging.

Trivia

• Playing chess with the stone figurines could also be referred to as "Moon Chess", as the pieces from each kingdom are found on both moons.
