Gateway Chambers are structures that can be found on the surface of every planet. They appear as large, scaffold-like structures with smooth, glassy surfaces through which can be seen a starry background that appears to be deeper than the inside of the structure would suggest. When the chamber is inactive, a swirling beam of light shoots into the sky. On the central platform are three raised inverted pyramids, each of which has a single cable port, and a central triangular stele made of concentric sections. Power can be supplied to any of the three ports, with more power needed for higher difficulty planets, to reveal an Odd Stone which, when interacted with, allows the player to teleport between activated Gateways on the planet.

Each Gateway Chamber takes exactly 30 seconds to activate, but the timer only begins counting down once enough power is provided. If the power provided is less than what is required, it will be wasted and does not contribute to activating the Gateway. As the activation process progresses, the sections of the central stele begin sinking into the platform, progressing from the outside in.

When the power supply is no longer connected to the three ports or becomes insufficient, the stele sections will begin rising back to their original positions in reverse order, finally going back into it's original form. However if power is restored within the "rising" state, the blocks will start descending once again from where it left off.

When activated the structure will glow, and in the large triangular spaces, the planet's Geometric Triptych symbol will appear. The activation will also allow the player to use the Gateway Fast Travel Network by interacting with the Odd Stone. At this time the power ports will disconnect and sink into the platform's surface.

Once one of the Gateway Chambers and the Gateway Engine have been activated, an additional node appears when interacting with the Odd Stone.

Planets

Planets have six surface elevation Gateway Chambers while moons have two. All planets and moons have an interior elevation Gateway Engine.

On planets with six chambers, there is one chamber at both the North and South pole with the further four chambers spaced equally around the equator. On moons, chambers are found on opposite sides of the equator.

Players can use the compass to help with locating the chambers. The compass will display the nearest active and inactive chamber navpoints, allowing the player to easily find the next chamber to go unlock. Inactive chambers are a purple navpoint with a dot in the center, while active chambers have a chamber icon instead.

Power Requirements

Each planet's Gateway Chambers requires a different amount of sustained power over 30 seconds to be activated. For example, Sylva's chambers can be powered by 3 Small Generators (2U/s per Generator), running for 30 seconds. Once activated, a Gateway Chamber requires no further power.

Trivia

In addition to their fast-travel capabilities, Gateway Chambers can be used as anvils to blow up destructible objects without cratering the ground.
