Compass displaying navpoints

The Compass is used to help the player navigate the planet. Players can activate the compass by holding the control to open the Action Wheel (PC: R, Xbox: Xbox One - D-Pad Right, PS4: PS4 - D-Pad Right, Switch: Switch - Right) and selecting the Compass icon. This can be used at any time when the player is in or outside of a vehicle. The compass will display the direction of the planet's north pole, indicated by the N in the inner circle.

Navpoints

The compass will show the player multiple different navpoints, located relative to the player. Navpoints are displayed three-dimensionally, giving information about their horizontal position as well as vertical position. Any navpoints that are positioned outside the compass radius will be placed on the edge of the compass display, excluding navpoints that are only displayed when in range (such as EXO Caches).

  • The compass was not able to be shown inside of a vehicle until Patch 1.19.134, released on March 31st, 2021.
