Is this not a blueprint? I'm sort of confused what this page is here for. It sounds like you are talking about the wire-frame when making buildings or items. But when you refer to it in other pages it makes it seem like research. If the description on this page is correct then it is fine, but please fix the other pages because there should be no way to find schematics at discoveries. It is research that would be found.

Also I think a better word would be blueprints. Seems more intuitive, but either way. -- Crychair

A blueprint is a paper-printed drawing and is used in reference to buildings (usually printed only by architects), while a schematic is a technical diagram made in many formats for a very broad range of technologies. Research is a verb, not a noun. You can't discover "a research," so a noun was needed. Six months after someone discovers the Truck (schematic) it would be confusing to tell them to look for a discovery or the research in the backpack or crafting station; after a time, it's gathered knowledge and, since this collection of stuff entails a broad range of technologies, the more generalized term, schematic, covers all types of items, where blueprint is a limiting word. I'm referring to the both the innate knowledge you start the game with and stored knowledge that one obtains in the game by the process of research if lucky enough to discover it.
My bet is there will be references all over to both blueprints and even recipes too. My thinking is it is better to reserve the words blueprint and recipe for specifics as the game grows. For instance, if they add actual buildings at some point, then perhaps we will be crafting or otherwise discovering the game equivelent of blueprints. If food is are added, then better to have the specific term recipe in reserve. I can change the others, but just joined this particular wiki earlier today so it's going to take time to get to any of them. Yasuewho (talk) 02:18, 28 December 2016 (UTC)Yasuewho
Don't care as much about the name over the fact that your right you don't discover a research, but you can discover the "research item" referenced on the research page. Which gets you the "Schematic". I just dont want to have duplicate names. And currently you are discovering schematics, but they are also the wire-frames when you build buildings or items. These are not the same thing right now, I agree they are close, but I think currently "Schematic" Is the exact same thing as "Research". Crychair (talk) 02:59, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
