Walkways

Walkways are traversal items in Astroneer. They allows for the creation of walkable elevated paths, and can also be used to channel power and oxygen between bases.

Uses

Placing a Walkway within range of another will connect a path between them, deforming any terrain that might be in the way.

Walkways may be placed on any terrain, allowing for placement on walls and ceilings of caves.

The maximum placement distance for the post is shown as a colored dial on the base of the post when placing.

• White indicates valid placement, below the maximum walkway length.
• Blue indicates valid placement at optimal walkway length.
• Pink indicates invalid placement -- whether from being placed too far, too close, or from creating too sharp of a turn.

In addition to creating paths, Walkways also function as extension cords to carry power and oxygen over long distances. While somewhat clumsy for this purpose, they are quite inexpensive and densely bundled for the amount of distance that they cover, can link platforms to the line without needing a special splitter, and can be made with locally available minerals on every planet.

Notes

• Walkways are unable to be placed directly into a Shredder. They may only be shredded when bundled.
