Tether Dropper

The Tether Dropper is a functional item in Astroneer that allows the player to automatically place Tethers while moving, provided they have a supply in their backpack.

Usage

The Tether Dropper is typically placed in one of the player's top-row backpack slots (the "shoulder" slots).

• Function: While active, the device automatically consumes one tether from the player's inventory and places it the moment the player reaches the maximum connection distance from the previous tether.
• Efficiency: It ensures Tethers are always placed at their maximum possible distance, preventing the "wasted" overlap that often occurs with manual placement.

Notes

• The device does not require power to operate, but it will cease functioning immediately if the player runs out of Tethers in their inventory.
• It is highly recommended for cave exploration where manual placement can be annoying while running from hazards.
• If the player is standing still, the device will not place a tether; it triggers based on the player's distance from the last tether.
