The more I dig through the wiki as it now begins fleshing out, the more Im seeing he different 'flora' or hazards called different things. Now that a page exists for them some discussion here about how we should collectively name them now might be better than later when they are as tied into everything as Resources are, which sparked possibly the first of such 'naming' debates.

The list so far:

  • Exploders/creepers
  • Needlers/Mushrooms
  • Spewers/pumpkins/Gas plants
  • Tumbleweeds
  • Worms/xarlac
  • Gas bombs?
  • Tentacles?

Not sure if "Cacti" on Exotic = "exploders" or not since I havent been to that world yet. (By the way, you forgot to sign Rkaneus)

"Something something fishing Metaphor" would make a nice name for the tentacles. Jokes aside, I do agree on collective naming if official names haven't been released, who knows, we may even influence the game. Straw polls would be a nice way of doing things, possibly put them up on the front page for a day or so, see what the general idea is. If not, we could stick to this discussion page for names of hazards. I'm not sure what the Gas bombs are, but we should consider calling the Tentacles something other than tentacles. Possibly something along the lines of an Explorer Trap? Trick Tether? I'm not good with coming up with names, if that wasn't already painfully obvious, but I do agree on collaborative naming. • Exploders
    • Tall green flora with red spots. They explode when dug out.
  • Pumpkins
    • Bulbous orange flora with that glow green at their top. They shoot toxic gas at nearby Astroneers.
  • Needlers
    • Wide purple flora with red spots. They stick out needles when an Astroneer gets too close.
  • Anglers
    • Circular black flora with a long, thin, downward-hanging tentacle with a pulsing red light on the end. If an Astroneer gets close, they are grabbed and pulled toward the flora, which then explodes. If the ground around the tentacle is altered, the body of the flora will fall to the ground and explode. Sometimes they bug out and get embedded into the floor.
    • Is the Angler/Cave Lure a plant or an animal? --Voxymoron (talk) 15:38, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
      • It's a plant duh, cause it drops organic when killed.
  • Worms
    • Peach coloured fauna with a large gaping mouth, surrounded by a grey, indestructible rock. If an Astroneer falls in, they are killed instantly.

I'm pretty sure this is all there is, and those spiky tumbleweeds are more like a weather thing like sandstorms.

Petition for name change

Really disaprove of the choice of Pumpkin for the name of the gas spewing flora. Clearly they are Cave Anemone. Would it be alright for me to change this convention? Also, the Needlers are obviously inspired by Tooth Fungi (Hydnellum) - which is such a nice pun, considering their tooth attack, i'd love to include a mention to it here; or, again, change their name. --1ifemare (talk) 08:15, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
