The MAT (Material Analysis Transmitter) is a module used to advance missions in order to get the Hoverboard and the VTOL.

MATs are only found on Desolo and Vesania. They show up as blue circle with a pointed bottom on the Compass as soon as the corresponding Vehicle Data Recorder is destroyed using 
Dynamite. Note that blowing up the Vehicle Data Recorder only shows you the location of its respective MAT via a beacon, and does not directly spawn it, meaning it is possible to find a MAT without blowing up its respective Vehicle Data Recorder.
Uses
After locating the MAT, certain resources will need to be provided in order to advance the corresponding missions. After completing all tasks, the MAT will explode and the player will be given a Hoverboard on Desolo and a VTOL on Vesania (depending on the planet) and the corresponding Schematic will be unlocked.
Notes
- MATs are surrounded by debris, however none is produced when they explode.
- MATs cannot be moved by the Winch, though they can still fall if the terrain under them is dug out.
